Mrs. Thompson

“ From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.”  Acts 17:26-28

I am so glad God brought me to this place at this time!  People ask me if I enjoy teaching at a Christian high school.  My answer is always a resounding yes!  I am at MRLH to share the Spanish language with our students, and it is my goal to equip them with skills for their world in the future, but also to pass along an appreciation for and enjoyment of language and culture.

My bachelor’s degree is from WSU, where I prepared for bilingual education.  I have a master’s degree in English as a Second Language from Central Washington University.  Before joining the MRLH faculty in 2004, I was privileged to teach in three Washington public school districts:  Pasco, Auburn, and Sumner.  Before that, I lived and studied in Colombia, South America.

My family consists of my husband Jay, whom I married in 1986, and our daughter, Rose, who is attending PLU.  When I am not at school, I love connecting with friends and relatives.  I am currently studying the Serbo-Croatian language through my American Slavic Women’s club.  When the weather is good, I love a day hike or a bike ride where it is scenic!

I enjoy spending time with family.  I am pictured here with a few
of my cousins and our spouses.

MRLH is supported by both LCMS and ELCA congregations.
We strive to serve the entire local community and welcome students from all backgrounds.
