Mrs. Ackerman

Welcome to ACKERMANIA! Laughing This is my first year teaching at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School.  I am teaching Old Testament, Church History, Health, and P.E.  Previously, I spent three years teaching seventh grade at Concordia Lutheran School.

If I’m not smiling, something is definitely wrong!  I’m friendly, silly, crazy, and often found doing odd things that most people would find embarrassing.  I always welcome an amiable “hello,” or a kind hug.  If there’s music playing I’m either singing or dancing to it.  If there is no music, I make some. (That’s probably why I have coached Dance Team for 3 years now at CLS and am starting a Dance program at MRLH this year!)  I’m always dreaming of my next adventure, even if it is just to the grocery store or reading a new book.

Though I was born in Michigan, I grew up in the Puget Sound area.  Consequently, I love rain, coffee, Mariners baseball, Seahawks football, Mt. Rainier, and RAIN.  After high school at Auburn Riverside High, I traveled to California for college.  I attained a bachelor’s degree in history, in the secondary education program, at Concordia University in Irvine.  A northwest native can’t stay away too long though, so after 5 ½ years in California, I moved back to Washington and became a teacher and coach.

My husband Travis and I have been married for 2 years.  We love traveling, photography, cooking, and our miniature dachshund, Reagan.  We have no children…yet.

One of my goals is to travel the world.  So far my journeys have taken me to Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland and 34 of the 50 states.  I’d gladly welcome the nickname, “Travel-Stained.”  In addition to traveling, a couple of my other life goals are to open a bakery, start a photography business, and sell one of my paintings.  Past and present students of mine certainly reap the benefits of my love of baking.

I LOVE TEACHING and I humbly know God is using my hands to touch lives!  Praise the Lord!
