Graphic Art

Graphic Art focuses on the elements and principles of design. Through a hands-on approach the student will apply these elements and principles to produce strong graphic images. Design problems solved will include logos, letterheads, poster design, and illustration utilizing a variety of mediums.  This semester we will focus on producing the yearbook as a real world application of the lessons we are learning.

Supply list

-             Newsprint Pad 9x12  - This is for thumbnail/preliminary sketches – get the cheapest you can find

-             Drawing pencils:  graphite pencils in a range of hardness from 4H to 4B / Some options I saw at Michaels were:

Reeves sketching pencils, set of 12, 4H-6B, $7.49

Prismacolor Art Pencil Set, medium, set of 12, 6H-4B, $14.99

Kimberly Graphite Drawing Kit, set of 10, 4H-8B, $9.99 (includes an eraser and pencil sharpener.)

-             Pencil sharpener:

The softer graphite pencils cannot be used in the wall sharpener so a hand held one is needed.

-            Eraser -  A  ‘pink pearl’  would work fine
