The Gospels and Their Influence on Literature

This course begins with an examination of the synoptic Gospels. Students will read through each of these Gospels and analyze and compare the unique theological message each of the evangelists presents. With a firm foundation in the Christology of the evangelists the students will read and analyze literature and popular culture that has been influenced by or is rooted in the story of Jesus. Students will critique these contemporary stores and evaluate the content and intent of the authors in relation to the Gospel message.
